Project Completed in the Fall of 2006

For Project Questions, Contact Cindy Klopfenstein, City Engineer, at 683-0150, ext. 6114

The City of Loveland undertook a $847,000 intersection improvement project at Second Street (SR 48), East Broadway (SR 48), East Broadway (not part of SR 48), Broadway Street and Second Street (not part of SR 48).  The project involves realigning the intersection to improve the Level of Service, the replacement of aged 4" water lines and stormwater.  Approximately 18,600 existing daily users will benefit from the improvement.  The construction also included signalizing the realigned intersection.  The project is started in January of 2006, and was funded with a $368,847 State of Ohio grant and water and storm water utility funds.

On September 7, 2005, the City hosted a neighborhood meeting to provide conceptual information to residents in the neighborhood and listen to their concerns and issues.  Click here to view the exhibit that was presented at the meeting.  The exhibit shows the proposed realignment of the intersection.

(Posted 7/21/06) Five Points Intersection Update:

The long awaited Five Points Intersection is nearly complete with only a few items remaining.  The project is scheduled to be complete in mid August.  The remaining items are the traffic signal poles and lights that will increase the safety and relieve a lot of the traffic congestion at the intersection.  The project from start to finish has been a large improvement to the downtown corridor and will help the City move forward with the downtown development.  Along with improving the traffic flow, the new intersection will also be pedestrian friendly by addition of crosswalks, concrete islands and walk signals making it easier to walk to the downtown area.  The project was not scheduled to be complete until September, but with good weather and hard work from the City’s Contractor, Trend Construction, the project will be complete nearly two months early.  If you have any questions or concerns about how the intersection will function once it is complete, please feel free to give the City a call.  The City would like to thank the traveling public for their patience during the construction.

The contractor has completed the installation of the new water main, installed some of the storm sewer on the project and completed most of the rough grading on the site.  The contractor is no longer on site and the utility companies will begin relocating power poles, telephone lines and underground electric.  Click here to view a press release on an upcoming road closure.  The utility companies are expected to be complete by the first of March.  At that time the contractor will come back in and complete the project.

The City of Loveland recently started the much needed Five Points intersection improvement project located in downtown Loveland. Trend Construction was awarded the bid in December 2005 and started construction in early January 2006. The intersection will be constructed in three phases: 1. The contractor will install the new water main on Broadway, demo the two existing churches on the northeast and northwest corner and begin the rough grading on the project. 2. The contractor will then pull off the site and the utility companies will begin relocating existing utility poles and other utilities that need to be relocated.  3. The contractor will complete the project by installing new curb, storm drains, install signals and repave the roadway.  The expected completion date on the project is June 2006.
