City of Loveland: Parks & Recreation

LEVER PARK SKATEBOARD PARK

City of Loveland officials are very pleased to announce the City has received a $65,741 grant from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources for the construction of a skateboard park in Lever Park.  The grant from the State will cover 75% of the cost of building this facility up to a maximum of $65,741 with the City providing 15% of the funds.

After a number of Loveland teenagers formed a group in 2003 and requested that the City build a skating facility, the City of Loveland submitted a grant to the State of Ohio in February 2004.  Initially, the City was denied funding.  However, the City’s recent application for the current round of Nature Works funding was successful.  The City also has a $3,000 grant from Cinergy, and $57 raised by Loveland teenagers for this purpose.

The guidelines according to the NatureWorks Grant require the park to be built by December 31, 2006.

For more information about the skate park, contact Josie Bellissemo at 683-0150 or click here to email.
