June 17, 2005

The City of Loveland would like to announce that it will undertake its 2005 road rehabilitation program starting on Monday, June 20th and continuing through Friday June 24th.  A number of city streets will be impacted.

Pavement planning (removing existing asphalt) will be done on the following dates:

  • June 20-21: Wall Street, Heidelberg (from Lindenhall to West Loveland), and Valleyview.
  • June 22: Loveland Madeira Road

Asphalt paving will occur on the following dates:

  • June 22: Loveland Madeira Road
  • June 22-24: Valleyview, Wall Street, Cross Alley (from West Loveland Avenue to Park Street), Heidelberg, Brown Street).

Traffic will be maintained on these street during the planning process.  Local streets will be closed during the resurfacing on Wednesday through Friday. Because of the volume of traffic on Wall Street and Loveland Madeira Road, traffic will be maintained on these streets during paving. Traffic congestion and delays are possible as a result of this work.  Residents living on the streets that will be resurfaced will also be given notice by the contractor (Terry Construction) the night before work will be done so they can make necessary arrangements.

According to Mayor Greenberg, the road rehabilitation program is one of the tangible ways that the City reinvests tax dollars paid by employees and residents.  “We are spending ten cents of every dollar from income tax on this core government service.  Last winter was particularly tough on our roadways, so Council voted to increase funding from income tax to do more roads than originally planned.”  The City has budgeted $404,000 for its 2005 road rehabilitation program.  Almost 60% of the funding for this year’s program is from income tax, and the rest of the program’s funding comes from motor vehicle registration and impact fees.

The City of Loveland will provide nightly updates on the road rehabilitation progress to keep travelers informed of conditions in the field and any changes in construction schedule.  Interested residents and travelers should visit the City’s website to receive these updates.  Construction may be delayed due to weather.  For more information, contact Chad Ingle, the City Project Engineer, at 683-0150.

Street Maintenance Program Set for Summer

Each summer, the City of Loveland resurfaces a number of streets throughout the community to repair damage from the winter and extend the useful life of our roadways.  The city uses motor vehicle registration fees and the local income tax to fund this program.  This year, the City plans to spend $404,000 on the annual street maintenance program.  The following streets are slated for resurfacing/sealing, and in some cases, concrete replacement where appropriate.

  • Loveland Madeira Rd. (Kroger to the corp. line)
  • Valleyview (Bellwood to Loveland Madeira)
