Right of Way Permits

The City requires a permit and inspection for any work performed in the right of way which may include but not limited to sidewalk repairs/replacement, utility work, drive aproach repair/replacement and street or curb cuts. An application can be picked up at City or by downloading the documents below and returning both doucments to City Hall for review.

016pw The City of Loveland Public Works Department maintains many of the City's infrastructure, including storm drainage systems, public parks, 101 lane miles of roadway and 80 miles of water main serving over 4,500 water customers.

The Public Works department also provides leaf pick-up in the fall, brush pick-up in the spring and fall, snow plowing operation in inclement weather and Christmas tree recyling.

1. Recycle used motor oil, antifreeze, and batteries.

2. Fix oil, radiator, and transmission leaks in your car.

3. Don't litter. Trash gets blown and washed into the river.

4. Pick up pet waste and dispose of it in the trash or toilet.

5. Use pesticides and lawn chemicals sparingly.

6. Install a rain garden in your yard.

7. Don't pour chemicals down the storm drain.

8. Maintain your septic system.

9. Do not place leaves and grass clippings in the gutter or a ditch.

10. Wash your car in a car wash or on your lawn, not on your driveway.

Also, all Loveland residents, regardless of County, can use Hamilton County's yard waste drop off program year round. Please visit the Hamilton County Solid Waste Disposal Website for more information.

voucher Don’t worry! The City of Loveland and Evans Landscaping are working together to help you out. You may pick up a voucher at City Hall, or download one here, good for one load of yard waste. Bring your license or other proof of Loveland residency with your voucher to City hall, where it must be signed by City Hall employee to be valid.

Snow-covered streets will be plowed and salted according to established priorities that are based on traffic volume, public safety and access to emergency facilities and schools. During major snowstorms, crews will plow and salt continuously prior to high volume traffic hours. Depending on the type and intensity of the storm, plowing operations may be suspended during peak traffic hours to devote maximum effort to salting operations that provide better traction. Plowing operations will resume after peak traffic hours.

10/18/06: New Salt Storage Building: The city has built a new salt storage facility located at the old VFW Fireman's Hall on East Loveland Avenue. The new facility will hold approximately 600 tons of road salt that the city will use to de-ice the roadways. Currently the City has one facility located in Commerce Park. In the past it has been very time consuming to drive from the Clermont and Warren County portion of the city to the Commerce Park to load the salt during a snow storm event. The new facility will eliminate this time and keep the drivers on the roads fighting the snow.

12/5/05: Brine Application: At the end of the last winter the City purchased a salt brine maker which consists of a 1000 gallon storage tank that mixes salt and water to make a brine solution. The salt brine solution is then applied to the main streets, hills and bridges to prevent a layer of ice from forming on the road. The salt brine is very effective down to temperatures of approximately 22 degrees and can only be applied when the roadways are dry. The crews can apply the salt brine solution to the roads in the afternoon during normal working hours which will allow them more time at night to respond to icy road conditions. Many other Cities, State and Counties agencies are also applying the brine solution to the roadways.

Water-Basement Program

On June 9, 2004, the United States District Court approved a Consent Decree resolving the lawsuit between the United States/Ohio Environmental Protection Agency ("EPA") and the Hamilton County Board of Commissioners/City of Cincinnati concerning alleged Clean Water Act violations. The goal of the Consent Decree is to eliminate sewage overflows and bring the City and County into compliance with the Clean Water Act.

Many County residents have experienced sewage backups caused by problems in the Metropolitan Sewer District (MSD) system. As part of the Consent Decree, MSD agreed to institute the Water-in-Basement ("WIM") Program. As a result of part of the WIB Program, the MSD will provide three services to homeowners who suffer a sewage backup:

1. Investigation and cleanup of water in the basement incidents.

2. Reimbursement for damages arising out of Water in Basement incidents that were caused by capacity or maintenance issues.

3. Installation of measures to prevent the reoccurrence of water in basement incidents.

The U.S District Court appointed the Legal Aid Society to act as Ombudsman for the WIB Program. The Ombudsman's role is to ensure that WIB victims obtain effective and timely assistance. Homeowners and other residents who have questions or problems with the implementation of the WIB Program can contact MSD's Office at (513) 362-2801.

2010 Christmas Tree Recycling will run from December 27, 2010 through January 7, 2011. City residents can bring trees to the Public Works Department, 10980 Loveland-Madeira Road or contact the receptionist at City Hall (513) 683-0150, ext. 1439 or email to have a tree picked up.

Preparing your tree for pickup:

Remove all lights from the tree.
Remove all ornaments from the tree.
The Hours of Operation for Public Works is 8:00 AM-4:30 PM, Mon.-Fri. Premises will be locked during all other hours.
